<p>Energy efficiency is playing a dominant role in meeting the environmental commitments of industrial countries. The condensing boiler is one such technology that offers an efficient method of converting natural gas into useful energy. However, the efficiency of condensing boilers largely depends on the water return temperature. For this reason the return water temperatures for condensing boilers have to be maintained within a small range. Often in the process industry, a wide range of low to medium-grade temperature is required. This limits the application of condensing boilers. Furthermore, high boiler water return temperatures bring with it likely benefits for the domestic sector that could include smaller-sized radiators and pipe-work. A novel flue gas sorption dehumidification technology has been investigated as a potential technology that could achieve comparable energy efficiencies, but with higher return water temperatures as compared to condensing boilers. This paper presents the experimental procedure carried out and highlights the potential technological and economic benefits of the technology.</p>
