<p>There is growing international concern about the environmental implication of climate change. The work presented in this paper concerned with the design of new solar collector integrated into louvered shading devices. In addition to protecting glazed spaces in buildings from excessive solar gain, the collector would provide the flexibility to produce systems customized for collecting heat over a temperature-range appropriate to a particular building services application at various climates/locations. Thus a considerable reduction of peak loads for electricity utilities and primary energy consumption, which results in a decrease in global warming impact. Various alternative solutions in designing solar louver collectors will be provided. This work investigates a new design of the absorber plate based on heat pipe technology, which is providing an efficient heat transfer between the collector and the building services systems. The compatibility of louvers with different sizes and shapes could improve the solar control and the aesthetic appearance of the building facades.</p>
