<p>A vortex cooling system powered by solar energy is environment-friendly. Air is used as a working fluid for the cooling system. This article presents results of an investigation into space cooling using a vortex tube. Laboratory experiments have been carried out to determine the performance of a vortex tube for space cooling. A small-scale vortex cooling system driven by air compressor was tested under various operating conditions. The potential of integration of photovoltaic into a building to supply electricity to the air compressor for the vortex cooling system was analysed. The analysis was based on the space cooling requirement for an office room in the building.</p>
