<p>Innovative daylighting systems offer substantial advantages over conventional ones in the utilization of solar energy for the enhancement of indoor visual environment. The daylighting system with a double axis solar tracker investigated in the present study can deliver better economy and comfort in space lighting for buildings with limited access to daylight. The present study has carried out photometric measurements on an open-plan office when daylighting systems are introduced in addition to unilateral lighting environment. Computer simulations are also made on the basis of measured data to explore different options in daylighting to produce optimum lighting conditions for the workplace. Results indicate that different schemes of daylighting could be effectively applied to a typical office space subject to rather un-uniform lighting conditions.</p>
