<p>This paper describes the methodological approach for development, application and analysis of findings from the government approved dynamic building simulation Tool (IES) developed to facilitate the assessment of the energy and carbon impact for existing buildings in UK non-domestic sector. IES are used to evaluate the technical feasibility of achieving Energy Performance Rating and BREEAM assessment for the representative samples of refurbishment buildings in UK for two different scales of projects. A range of Technological interventions, grouped by building fabric, ventilation, appliances and on-site generation are evaluated to meet UK Part L2 building regulations. Emerging research findings from the application of this deployment methodology to mitigation and adaptation strategies for the existing buildings are discussed.</p>
