<p>Emitter wrap-through(EWT) solar cells are looked upon as one possible candidate for future next generation crystalline silicon solar cells. It has the advantage of zero shadow losses, easier module interconnection with both contacts on the back and improved collection efficiency by the backside emitter. In this paper, the development of EWT silicon solar cells is described. And it would focus on the structural design and the progress of technical. And then, the difficulties and development direction in presented EWT silicon solar cells will be pointed out. At last, some opinions on further studies of EWT silicon solar cells were also presented.</p>
