<p>A methodology for an index for rapid assessment of Indoor Environment Quality (IEQ) in offices or similar buildings in the UK has been proposed. The approach was verified by studying the responses of 33 occupants of an open plan office in Leeds City Centre, United Kingdom. Their responses were collected via a questionnaire. Measurement of parameters such as air temperature, illuminance (lux), background noise levels (dBA), relative humidity, carbon dioxide concentration (ppm), and air velocity was carried out on the working plane using specialised equipment. A good agreement between occupants’ subjective opinions and predictions by the Indices was found. By fitting a logistic regression model to questionnaire data, a weighted ranking of parameters affecting IEQ can be determined. A single representative IEQ index could then be developed.</p>
