<p>Photovoltaic solar panels have limited efficiency. The application of solar trackers can improve their performance by providing the maximum amount of solar radiant energy at any time between dawn and dusk. The design of an efficient system has to be understood and performed from the context point of view. This requires adequate analysis of solar tracking and its benefits during the justification and preliminary design stages. An efficient solar tracker based on parallel mechanisms can lead to solar panel size reduction and reduced capital costs. In order to investigate their implementation in electricity generation units, this paper proposes a procedure to determine the generalized efficiency of fixed solar trackers and the expected performance increase which can be expected from a solar tracker in terms of power output and also energy accumulation in storage units such as batteries.</p>
