<p>As far as tourism is concerned, Iran is one of the most important countries in the region for its natural, historical, cultural and other tourist attractions. Hence, it is possible to obtain high revenue by planning and providing the required facilities.[1] Unfortunately, however, Iran's share in the vast tourism market is very low. This has made the researcher think of an &quot;Inter-city Welfare Services Complex&quot; especially designed for overland travelers, thus taking a short step towards the development of this industry. The present project is an attempt to plan such a complex in order to introduce the climate-compatible architecture and tourism potentials, secure maximum requirements of an overland traveler in the intended route, thus meeting a small part of country's needs in tourism industry. In an attempt to attain this goal, the researcher has tried to answer various questions in this regard. Questions such as: 1. With regard to the updating of sustainable architecture or principles of green architecture, can these principles be applied appropriately, with respect to the special location of the plan (in a location outside the city)? 2. What inspirations can traditional architecture (and in this regard, the architecture of ancient caravanserais), regional climate (the intended route is located in a cold climate), modern technology and architecture, and ultimately the composition of these elements in a comprehensive plan give us? 3. How far the mentioned principles could be effective on the form of the building and its structure. Hence, the main objectives of the research have been defined as: 1-Planning a Welfare Services Complex specially designed for overland travelers, which meets their maximum needs with regard to their priorities 2-Attention to the historical background of the plan and sticking to the principles of traditional architecture in composition with modern architecture Employing principles of sustainable architecture appropriate to climate, subject and design site in order to optimally use natural energies; particularly solar energy to economize the fossil fuels.</p>
