<p>Gold nanoparticles’ enhancement of a PEM fuel cell stack has been investigated with different numbers of operating cells. The exact nature of the enhancement has been considered. The results of the testing showed a greater improvement at higher current densities, as well as of the maximum power output. The scaling of this effect with higher numbers of cells has also been examined, and the potential commercial benefit of complementing platinum catalysts with gold nanoparticles has been discussed.</p>
