<p>This work studies the subjective sensation under different shading control strategies in an office room by dynamic simulation. As the basic function of shading device is to improve the indoor thermal and visual environment, the occupants’ feeling on thermal sensation and daylight glare is a significant index for the control strategies. The aim of this paper is to characterize the impact of different shading control strategies on subjective feelings and find the most comfortable control pattern. Compared with energy consumption, this is a new method to assess the effect of shading control strategies. The simulation is based on an existing office room. As a result, the existing control patterns may have the problem on shading device over-use because shading device is active when the occupants do not have the discomfort experience. On the country, occupants may feel slight cool and hope to get more sunlight in winter. Afterward a control strategy comprehensively considering the former two aspects (PMV and DGP) is proposed, which is meant to achieve the highest occupants’ satisfaction. This study hopes to have a better understanding on the shading demand, and propose a new method for researches on manually controlled shading devices.</p>
