<p>Double skin facade(DSF) is considered that large amounts of energy can be saved through the different operation per season with the strategy of activating natural ventilation during summer season and utilization of cavity layers as OA(Outdoor air) preheating route during winter season. Especially, since the Solar chimney(SC) acting as a passive system can be used to activate the natural ventilation of the cavity layers in DSF during summer season and improve OA preheating capacity during winter season, the fresh air load(heating energy) in AHU(air handling unit) can be reduced. The effect for the cooling and heating energy saving, applied with SC was verified in the previous study[5]. However, the increment of preheating productivity due to the installation of SC during winter season need to be verified. Therefore, on this study, the heating energy efficiency for multi-story DSF operating combined with OA in AHU, depending on different heights of SC and different structural configuration in terms of heat airflow, was analyzed with a simulation. Based on our comprehensive analysis, the basic technology for the optimized design of DSF combined with SC will be presented.</p>
