<p>In this study, it is aimed to investigate the fuel demand and the changes in the emission of greenhouse gases emerged from burning of the fuel for the transportation sector in Turkey. For this purpose, in the first stage, the change in the fossil-sourced fuel demand in years for transport sector in Turkey is investigated. Besides gasoline and diesel which are widely used fuels in Turkey, LPG demand, which has increased remarkably by double fuel application due to its low price, is taken into account. It is found that the total fuel demand for transportation sector has increased from 18.4 million m3 to 32.9 million m3 between 1995 and 2015. In addition, demand of the fuels such as biodiesel, bioethanol which are considered as renewable alternative fuels for the transport sector are evaluated. The changes in greenhouse gas emissions from the combustion process are determined. It has been understood that the amount of greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector in Turkey has increased remarkably due to the significant increase in the number of vehicles and fuel demand. The CO2 emissions from the transport sector, which was 26.2 million tons in 1995, increased to 72.1 million tons in 2014 with a significant increase. Finally, the precautions to be taken to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, which have risen significantly due to the increase in fuel consumption of transportation sector, have been emphasized,</p>
