<p>This paper focuses on the combustion and NO emission characteristics of biomass/waste tire (WT) in a vertical heater at 700°C, 800°C and 900°C. A constant temperature thermogravimetric method was used to heat the particles while delineating the volatile and char combustion stages of the particle combustion. The ignition delay time (ti), volatile matter and char burn-out times (tv and tc) of the particles were obtained using the image method, and the maximum temperatures of the combustion flames of the particles for volatile matter and char (Tvmax and Tcmax) were obtained using a two-colour pyrometer. Further, this paper investigated the nitrogen emission and conversion characteristics of biomass/ WT particles at different combustion stages and throughout the whole combustion process. Finally, this paper compared the above results with the ZhunDong coal (ZD) and explored the utilization value of biomass/ WT from the perspectives of both combustion and NO emission characteristics.</p>
