A collaborative research effort is being set up by the section Thermal Power Engineering of the Delft University of Technology and groups in China and Brazil to identify and solve bottlenecks hindering large-scale introduction of small-scale, decentralized, generation of energy services such as cooking gas, electricity, power and heat based on thermochemical gasification of biomass. The background and the aims of the project will be described and the installations used to identify the bottlenecks together with the technical approach which will be used to solve the bottlenecks will be presented.
