Temperature rise, load, friction force, power loss and pumping power are the main considerations in the design stage of gas-lubricated slider bearings. For a fixed bearing geometry, varying the inlet thermodynamic conditions and using different lubricants influence not only the load capacity but also the frictional wastes and power consumption of the system. The results of a recent developed computer tool showed that load and friction force values do not change when different lubricants are applied, but the same is not true from the aspect of power. The temperature rise and power consumption values increase quadraticly with the augmentation of inlet pressure. On the other hand the increase in inlet temperature do not alter the friction force and load, however it causes the power consumption of the system to decay exponentially.
