Abstract

The country's fuel mix is significant to energy intensities and emission factors of commodities. This article presents the effects of the change of the power development plan (PDP) of Thailand on commodities' greenhouse gas (GHG) emission factors. The emission factors are evaluated in terms of full-energy-chains analysis by using the input-output (I-O) model to trace embedded GHG in production of commodities. The energy-related GHG emissions are estimated by following the revised 1996 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) guidelines for national GHG inventories. This study presents comparison of the fuel mix for electricity generation in 1995, 1998, 2001, and 2006. Results show the effect of fuel mix on GHG emission factors in the electricity intensive commodities.
