Abstract

It is accepted today that shading louvers offer maintenance-free, aesthetically pleasing protection from solar gains, which can cause visual and thermal discomfort and unnecessary load on the energy demands of a building. They are simple to manufacture and can be installed to both new and refurbished buildings. This paper presents the possibilities of converting these passive louvers to active solar collectors. Experiments have been carried out, here, in order to characterize the thermal performance of these shading collectors. This paper also offers the support and play a verifying role to theoretical and simulation studies of Shading louves, which are the subjects of other publications

Keywords. Solar energy; louvers; shading device; heat recovery
