This research seeks to exploit a novel building envelope by an investigation of integrating solar collectors into a specified deployable origami structure to improve the energy efficiency of building and its environmental controllability. Throughout a parametric study, a numerical model was developed to explore the relationship between the clear sky solar radiation received by the origami structure and its geometrical configuration in term of “compact ratio”, “optimum slope”. The application potential of this origami structure for radiation or thermal collecting also was discussed to facilitate it integrating into climatic responsive buildings.
