An additive compound consists of alkyl alcohol, ether, macromolecule polymer and alkyl nitrate is proposed to resolve the phase separation and low cetane number of E-diesel. The experimental results show that, blending with 1-2% this additive compound, the solubility of E-diesel is increased and the cold starting performance of diesel engine is also improved. The further results also present the variation of THC, CO and NOx emissions with load and blend ratio of ethanol. Especially, Bosch smoke number reduces greatly at any percentage of ethanol.
