This article presents a study on effects and approaches of green design for communal space in housing designs. First, it examines various types of communal areas in apartment housing where the notion of green design is applicable. Then, it conducts case studies with regard to green design possibilities within apartment housing. Finally it attempts to find some strategies and methodologies that will be applicable for the apartment housing in Korea.
