Abstract

This paper presents the experience of CREVER - Group of Applied Thermal Engineering of the University Rovira i Virgili (URV) of Tarragona (Spain) in the implementation of the Boileff project in the Spanish heating market. The project aims at improving the quality of boiler installations, thus increasing the performance of boilers by developing two strategies that go beyond the efforts of professional training: the first approach is called Declaration of High Quality Installation (DHQUI) and contains a set of quality criteria for outstanding boiler installation, which gets included in the contract with the customer. The second approach is called Guaranteed Performance Quality (GPQU) and includes a guarantee of the installer to achieve a certain annual energy use efficiency of the boiler, which in turn is dependent on a high quality installation of the boiler. Both approaches got tested and evaluated by field tests involving about 14 installations and 7 installers in Spain, during the heating period 2008/09.
