Abstract

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs), Al2O3, MCM-41, MgO, MMT and muscovite were used to support ruthenium nanoparticles for catalytic ammonia decomposition. It was shown that the Ru catalyst using muscovite as support exhibited the highest ammonia decomposition activity. The performance of Ru/muscovite catalyst was further improved by changing the Ru loading and reduction temperature to adjust the Ru particle size. The maximum TOFH2 of Ru/muscovite catalyst occurred at an average Ru particle size of ~6.2 nm.
