Abstract

Photovoltaic energy has nowadays an increased importance in electrical power applications, since it is considered as an essentially inexhaustible and broadly available energy resource. So, it is necessary to boost the low voltage of photovoltaic array, and convert the photovoltaic DC power into high quality AC power. In this case, the multilevel topology of inverter represents a good alternative for high voltage, high power applications and low current waveform distortion. A Direct Torque Control (DTC) strategy which is an efficient current controller scheme can achieve high accuracy and a fast dynamic response of motor, by selecting appropriate switching state through an switching table. The performances of the cascade constituted by a photovoltaic generator–multilevel VSI–induction motor are studied and good static and dynamic performances were obtained in simulation.
