Biogas is a renewable fuel that is produced from an anaerobic microbial decomposition of organic wastes. Biogas typically consists of up to 75% methane, approximately 25% carbon dioxide and trace amounts of for example carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas. Biogas can be used for heating, upgrading to natural gas quality or co-generation of electricity and heat. This study presents data using samples from Norrmejerier Diary Factory, Umea, Sweden. The waste materials consist of milk and other dairy products. This study shows that the amount of methane can be increased by increasing temperature, and that it is economically feasible to use waste from Norrmejerier Dairy Factory, Umea, Sweden for methane production.
