The Status and Characteristics of Korea’s Houising Performance System

This study purposes to identify the status and characteristics of performance rating system implemented in Korea and to prepare the foundation applied to the green construction industry efficiently and systematically. While the whole world have shown both the interest and concern on the global environment and made the efforts to solve the environmental problems in the variety of fields, each nation has implemented a rating system pursuant to its own characteristic. So, identifying the characteristic and status of Korea’s rating system under this worldwide tendency, this study tries to enhance its position in the world. The system rating the specific performance towards housing includes Building Energy Rating System, Green Home Standard and Performance Evaluation, Building Energy Code, Intelligent Building Rating Certification and Clean & Health Building Code. The system to rate the comprehensive performance on housing includes Green Building Certification System and Housing Performance Grade Indication System.
