Abstract

In this study, the author developed a set of computer programs with which the Typical Meteorological Years and data for air-conditioning design may be produced automatically for various locations. One of the problems in developing the data for building simulations and for air-conditioning design is how to estimate hourly solar radiation because it is not observed in some of the weather stations in the Asian countries. In this paper, solar radiation is estimated using the model developed by the author for Beijing and correction factors calibrated using daily observational data available. Typical Meteorological Years, as well as weather data for air-conditioning design have been developed for 360 locations in China and other 50 locations in 21 Asian countries and regions. Change ratios of design temperature are suggested for locations in China and other Asian countries to simplify the temperature for air-conditioning design. Based on the monthly average temperature, the main part of the Asian area is classified into heating region where only space heating is needed, cooling region where only space cooling is needed and heating-cooling region where both space heating and space cooling are needed throughout the year.
