Abstract

Longitudinal Vortex Generators (LVG) is an effective passive heat transfer enhancement method. It is widely used because it’s simple and easy to implement. The authors had put forward a kind of triangular tapered LVG, triangular pyramidal LVG (TPLVG), to ehance heat dissipation of eletrical transformers. By numerical simulation, the influence of attack angle, and the height of the TPLVG had been analysed. The results showed that the TPLVGs increased the cooling capacity of the oil-immersed transformer heat sink, and the optimum attack angle and height is 45° and 10mm individually. The natural convection heat transfer coefficient is increased about 8.4%.
