Abstract

Heat transportation is a new technology with wide application in many fields, such as recycling economic benefit, energy saving, environmental protection and resource supply. In this paper a compound phase change material is presented. This material is composed of 98.4%erythritol, 0.5% nanometer alumina, 1%silica and 0.1% carbon. Erythritol, melting temperature is 117℃,was chosen as the main heat storage materials. Nano-alumina with mass fraction of 0.5% and silica with mass fraction of 1% were added as nucleating agent and carbon with mass fraction of 0.1% was added to improve the thermal conductivity of PCMs. It is found that thermal conductivity increases from 0.1213 to 0.1766Wm⁻¹℃⁻¹ and latent heat is 331.5kJ·kg⁻¹.

Keywords. Phase change materials; erythritol; thermal energy storage; thermal conductivity; super-cooling degree
