The proposed system integrates several green technologies; including solar cell modules, environmentally friendly easy-to-make polyethylene heat exchanger loop and liquid desiccant air conditioning system. In this manner, the performance evaluation of desiccant enhanced evaporative cooling systems in hot and humid regions like Barbados Island has been investigated. A widely used detailed thermal model is provided to observe the performance of the system. Numerical computations have been carried out by using Engineering Equation Solver (EES) in terms of prevalent climatic conditions of Barbados. The theoretical values indicate that the system can achieve upto 1 kW of cooling capacity as per kg/s of supply air, which is average of 60% RH in the target area. The highest COP is attained as 1.2 when the temperature is around 36°C, with the RH of 60%. The evaluations show that such a system can save 2150 kWh/ year in Barbados Island.
