Abstract

A new concept for dehydration can be applied to biomass : the evaporation of water with adsorption of water steam (and only water) by zeolite operating without air. Biomass can become an interesting energy if it is dehydrated before putting into a boiler room. On average, the heating capacity of one ton biomass, which would be less than ten per cent dehydrated, is equivalent to five hundred kilos of fuel The water extracted from the biomass can be considered as distilled water. A « heat pump » effect, due to adsorption of water on zeolite results in the recovery of the desorption energy at a level 100°C to 120°C. Description of an equipment. Costs assessment. Ten tuns of wet wood produce seven Megawatt-hour of electricity, more than four tons of distilled water and more than sixteen MWh 120°C heat. The whole of that energy is an ECO PRODUCT.
