BCC based alloys represent a large and versatile group of hydrogen storage materials. Systematic studies to find out the most appropriate elemental substitution which can turn the material readily activated have been taken. Alloy systems (Ti0.16Zr0.05Cr0.22V0.57)1-xMx, (M: Cu and Mm, x= 0.0 - 0.10) were synthesized by arc-melting in a water-cooled Cu mold in argon atmosphere and investigated for their hydrogen storage behaviour. Phase analysis and structural studies were carried out using powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). These analyses indicate the retention of the parent BCC phase on Cu and Mm addition. Though the alloys have less hydrogen storage than the parent BCC phase, the desoption temperature of residual hydrogen is lowered.
