This paper evaluates the thermal comfort conditions of a natural ventilated atrium in summer in Taiyuan, a large city of North China, using objective measurement and subjective assessment. Questionnaires were collected from the occupants in the atrium and the environmental parameters were measured to calculate the predicted mean vote (PMV) value using Fanger's model. The survey has shown that the neutral temperature based on thermal sensation votes (TSV) is higher than that based on the PMV and thermal comfort zone obtained from the survey is not in consistent with that of ASHRAE. New thermal comfort zone applicable in the city can be provided for the references of design.
