Given the rapid growth of energy demand, the pursuit for clean energy from EU and international perspective, and the controversy over nuclear energy, it is important to evaluate the future energy policy options from various aspects. In this study, choice experiment is used to reveal people’s willingness to pay (WTP) and welfare changes from the multiple energy policy options varying in terms of the shares of renewable energy and nuclear energy, the percentage decrease in greenhouse gas emissions, energy dependency, job creation and the price of electricity. We found that the welfare gains due to a specific policy change (e.g. an increase in renewable energy share by 1%, a reduction of the GHG by 1%, an increase in the employment by 1,000, and a decrease in the import dependency by 1%) as 6.04 billion TL.
