Abstract

In this research, thin films of CdO were deposited using spray pyrolysis technique on soda lime glass substrate. It is possible to deposit CdO thin films having suitable values of sheet resistance and transmittance. The techniques used to investigate the layers physical properties include: X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-Visible spectroscopy and Hall Effect measurements. The high figure of merit of the prepared CdO films exhibit that they could find application in large-area electronic devices. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies show that the films are polycrystalline with preferred orientation along (200) plane. The films possess a transmittance of about 70% in the visible region and these films had the low values of electrical resistivity.
