Abstract

Transition metal ion-doped titanium dioxide (TiO2) powders were prepared by wet ball milling. The samples were characterized by XRD, XPS, EDX, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and FE-SEM. There are various ways for increasing efficiency of Dye sensitized solar cells. One of the best ways is increasing amount of charge carriers, light absorption and reducing recombination rate. Visible light reactive transition metal doped TiO2 has been used for achieving these objectives. Well known that doping by transition metals can improve light absorption spectra to visible light and TiO2 particles surface change can increase charge transfer velocity. Doped and undoped TiO2 based pastes for DSSC solar cells were fabricated. Electro-physical characteristic curves and conversion efficiencies were compared in this study. It was found that DSSC fabricated using Titania doped paste exhibited higher efficiency.
