Abstract

In this study, focusing on the 162 cases of multi-residential buildings pre-certified from 2010 to 2012 by the Green Building Certification System(GBCS) in Korea, we intend to investigate the current status of certification by analyzing each assessment items. In the green building certification system implemented in 2002, ratings are green1st(excellent) for more than 74 points out of a total of 100 credits, green2nd (very good) for more than 66 points, green3rd(good) for more than 58 points, and green4th(general) for more than 50 points. According to the acquired score results, the Green1st complex received excellent ratings in several assessment items including use of new/renewable energy, flexibility, Appropriateness of measure to reduce living furniture materials, feasibility of measure to reduce rain water load, and providing biotope. The ratings for the Green2nd complex are higher than the Green1st complex in assessable issues of access to public transport, Use of eco-friendly certified products, limiting ozone destroying, and traffic (road, railways) noise. Through the analysis of the credits distribution for green buildings, we were able to identify the current status of environmental performance in Korea. Besides, the system serves as a basis for evaluating the overall performance to confirm the technological level and improve the resulting performance.
