Abstract

Recently, sustainable management of water has received a lot of interest since the shortage of it has become one of major environmental issues. Power plants eject tremendous amount of condensation heat to generate electricity. Water is the most commonly used heat transfer materials. During the heat transfer process, large amount of water is evaporated into the air. This causes severe water management problems around the world. Dry cooling is an alternative cooling method, but it may potentially cause efficiency degrade. In this paper, the combination of dry/wet cooling methods are considered as a candidate for the sustainment of water resource and efficiency. The yearly requirements of design parameters of each cooling types is analysed. Based on the results, design points will be determined.
