Abstract

After thousands of years’ evolution, the creatures have developed a lot of strategies which make them use the least energy to achieve a harmonious coexistence with nature. If we can get the inspirations from those strategies and transfer them into architectural energy-saving technology, it would let our buildings have dynamic adaptability to natural environment. In this way, we can regard the biomimicry building as a good efficiency ecosystem in nature. And in the future, the biomimicry can become an essential study branch for low-carbon house research. Firstly, this article discusses the inspirations from the nature through analysing the adaptabilities to the surroundings. In the meantime, the most common building biomimicry means are divided into several branches, such as form, adaptation mechanism, structure and so on. This essay gives the instructions for the future development of biomimicry building. Secondly, this article categorizes current biomimicry technology into different classifications, such as envelop, heating, water saving and so on. Based on the empirical experience, it gives explanations to every single technology. We could obtain the perceptual cognition for every biomimicry technology. Thirdly, an overall conclusion for biomimicry low-carbon house is put forward by the current research. Based on that, we can estimate the key point to implement the content of biomimicry house in the future. This review pays attention to the latest trends of biomimicry, and provides a new way for the future low carbon house design.
