Abstract

The helix tube is a new form of heat exchange unit for gas cooler of trans-critical carbon dioxide heat pump. The convective heat transfer of supercritical carbon dioxide in helix tube was investigated numerically. The distributions of temperature, velocity and Nusselt number were obtained. The results show that the distributions of temperature and velocity are complex, and the effects of variable physical properties of carbon dioxide and the construction of helix tube on flow and heat transfer were very significant. The results of the study are useful for the design of gas cooler of trans-critical carbon dioxide heat pump.
