Abstract

As the energy price has been rising in recent years, once again, gasification and its possibility have attracted researcher's interest. Most of research in gasification technology has been directed toward the gasification of coal. For example; in order to produce synthesis gas to be used in a gas turbine. Using coal has various environmental issues and so it's not environmentally an acceptable source of energy as its usage produces a huge amount of greenhouse gas (GHG), like CO2, and motivates global warming. Gasifying biomass is an alternative to producing a CO2 neutral fuel which offers opportunities similar to those obtained by coal gasification. Gasification can meet global energy needs while minimizing environmental issues. In this paper, current gasification process & technology, gasifiers, feedstocks and their impact on gasification, potential application, producer gas quality and condition and its issues and so on will be reviewed.
