Abstract

This study considers the archival studies for the design of the heat exchange system of thorium molten salt reactors to be used in new design studies and offers solutions for FUJI -Thorium Molten Salt Reactor (th-MSR) as the safe and sustainable nuclear reactor. The design of heat exchanger carries a critical importance in power plants. In this study knowhow of the heat exchangers used in molten salt nuclear reactors are provided to throw light on FUJI MSRs heat removal system. Molten salt reactor FUJI has excellent simplified structure and three main different heat exchangers: the fuel salt heat exchanger, the steam generator, and the coolant heat exchanger associated with the environment. The heat removal capabilities of the fuel-coolant salt heat exchanger and coolant-salt steam generator or air radiator determine the design calculations of the core and limit the power output of the MSR FUJI. This study will enable us updating information which has been available and produced by huge efforts in the past to facilitate and promote new design studies on future heat exchange systems in Thorium Molten Salt Reactors.
