Abstract

In this study, a design to introduce the chilled beam system was carried out and as a result, Sensible cooling load of a single unit of coil was calculated 960kcal/h and latent cooling load was 210kcal/h. The study on modularizing the system on ceiling (HVAC, sanitary, firefight and electric power) has been underway and as a result, a significant reduction in schedule, floor height and air conditioning energy was proved, but introducing to Korean market still remains behind. Thus to design the system which will be compatible with the climatic conditions in Korea, a condensation system to deal with high temperature and humidity was applied and the capacity was increased by 20% compared to foreign products, taking into account of cooling & heating load of the domestic buildings. Cooling and heating load of the office building was determined using TRACE700 and the capacity of the heat exchanger and air supply were designed based on such result. To prove the reduction effect in annual Cooling energy consumption and floor height, a comparison between chilled beam system and existing system (CAV) was carried out, and as a result, reduction in energy consumption and floor height by 20% and 13%, respectively, was verified.
