Abstract

In this study, especially energy and exergy analyses of the units used in deep freeze applications have been examined taking into consideration the unit cooling capacity. In these analyses, R22, R404A gases used in the cooling applications and R407C gas which were recommended as their alternative were addressed separately. Then, the depending on the exergetic irreversibilities obtained from the analysis results, CO2 emission potentials of each fluid were calculated individually through the Total Equivalent Warming Impact (TEWI). Analyses showed that COP and exergy of the R407C gas was better by 10.47% and 10.54% respectively than R404A. In the end of the study, the effects of the refrigerant choice on the system performance were also evaluated.
