Abstract

This paper puts forward a new air handling unit based on temperature & humidity independent control and large temperature difference. The chilled water temperature difference across the AHU is designed as 7℃, which is 2℃ greater than the traditional 5℃ temperature difference. Large temperature difference can reduce the chilled water required by the AHU and then reduce the water pump energy consumption. The fresh air coil in the AHU is responsible for dehumidification and the return air coil is for cooling the air so that the temperature and humidity will be handled separately, which can realize large enthalpy difference and reduce the air volume required by the AHU. Large temperature difference and enthalpy difference can largely reduce the energy consumption caused by the air conditioning system.

Keywords. temperature & humidity independent control (THIC); large temperature difference; large enthalpy difference; graded using of chilled water; new AHU; energy-saving
