Abstract

Porous Poly(vinylidene fluorite) (PVDF) large capsule containing CoB catalyst and sodium borohydride (NaBH4) was prepared using non-solvent induced phase inversion of PVDF-catalyst mixture following by adsorption of NaBH4. The CoB catalyst was embedded in PVDF capsules via in situ reduction of cobalt salt by borohydride. The adsorption capacity of the large capsules is studied by weight differentials method. The structure and thermal stability of the novel large capsules were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The large capsules adsorbed with NaBH4 are used for hydrogen production by directly mixing with water.
